The Mindset Stage

Live from Brecon Cathedral from August 9 - 11th 2024 11am to 11pm (#mindsetstage)

About the Jazz Mindset STAGE

Having been both a fan and volunteer at the Brecon Jazz Festival, I’ve been lucky enough to experience some of the world’s most incredible jazz talent. But it’s not just the musicians that inspire me – in my everyday life, I meet people with a ‘Jazz Mindset’ – a way of thinking, a way of living, a mindset that knows when to play, when to listen, when to follow the rules, and when to break them. It’s creative mindset, it’s adaptable outlook, and it’s a brain that’s always open to new possibilities.

And that’s where the idea for the Mindset Stage was born. It’s a platform to showcase people who may not be jazz musicians but who definitely live life with that same jazz spirit. I’m absolutely thrilled to be bringing this unique stage to Brecon Jazz Festival as it celebrates its 40th anniversary, and I can’t wait to see you there! Come join us for a series of unforgettable gigs that celebrate the Jazz Mindset in all its forms”. Andrew Chainey, volunteer and organiser.

References to the Jazz Mindset are long established and well researched, with papers from the world’s leading universities and academics exploring the subject in great detail and many mentions within the best selling book and TV series ‘Lessons in Chemistry‘. See below for links to those articles.

About AndRew

Andrew Chainey has been a volunteer since his twenties. When he moved to Brecon three years ago, he started helping out at the Jazz festival. He also runs Tantrwm, a company that works across video, digital and events. .

The cathedral was available during Brecon Jazz 2024 and Andrew thought that it would be great to bring people with the ‘Jazz Mindset’ to complement the 40th anniversary of Brecon Jazz Festival. And so the Mindset Stage at Brecon Cathedral was born.
